Get around:
You will not need any means of transportation in order to get to the conference venue as it is within a 5 min walk from the hotel.
However, if you want to do some sightseeing you will probably need to use the underground.
Single tickets are quite expensive (£4.80), so here is what you can do:
1) Get an Oyster card when you arrive (https://www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/oyster/what-is-oyster) or a visitor Oyster card online to be posted to your place(http://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/london-visitor-oyster-card/). Like that, all the fares will be reduced.
2) Or get a travelcard (£12.00), which is a daily pass for zones 1-4, only for the day(s) that you wish to use the tube. (This is easier if you want to keep a receipt because it is a paper ticket.)
